SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA — At a time when the U.S. Supreme Court has gutted the Federal Voting Rights Act — and with serious movement afoot to repeal California’s top two jungle primary system, the need to reconsider how California elects its state and federal representatives has never been more pressing.
Former Santa Monica Mayor and 2026 Green Secretary of State candidate Michael Feinstein will be speaking during General Public Comment to the City Councils of San Diego, Chula Vista and Escondido, on how his proposal to elect California’s elected officials from multi-seat legislative districts by proportional representation would (i) affect representation for those cities and for San Diego County overall, (ii) address voting rights for Californians and (iii) address the vote-splitting fiasco in the California Governor’s race.
